I watched my beautiful son get on the school bus for the first time ever yesterday and it seemed so heart wrenching. I'm not really sure why that is but I could feel his fear and my mothering instinct went into overdrive. He seemed so quiet and shy and I know he was fighting back the tears. No matter how many Moms have gone through this it will always remain difficult to the next group of new Moms.

I have a daughter who is now in Grade 12 and I remember very vividly her first day of school, I followed the school bus all the way to the school so that I would know where she was at every moment. Before I knew it she was graduating from Grade 6 and moving to the BIG SCHOOL with grades 7-12. For her graduation I wrote this poem and had many mom's come to me and hug me and say....that is exactly how we feel too. Hope you like it.
Seems like only yesterday you took those big steps onto the bus You were so excited You went without a fuss Each year you've grown a little more You've learned some lessons, yes You'll look back at your primary years someday And say "they were the BEST" For it was there you made first friends and treasured memories The days you learned to read, to write To share, to laugh, to dream. We are so very proud of you We want you to know How very much we love you and Are glad that you have grown. Love Mom and Dad
