Last week at my son's school they were collecting for the United Way.
On the Friday, which was the due date, I went to give my son some money and he said, " I don't need any money Mommy" I asked him why and he pulled out a 5 dollar bill from his jacket. He had taken it out of his piggy bank the other day when we were going to to the dollar store, but didn't make it. I said to him" I thought that was for the dollar store trip" and he told me that he had enough toys and food and that he wanted to help the kids that didn't. I am so proud of him. He is only 5 years old. |

I think it's amazing how our children develop empathy and kindness at such a young age. This is a reminder to get my children involved in giving this year. Thanks to your posting I have decided to take my 2 young sons to the mall to get them each a name off the tree to donate gifts to children in need. Thanks for sharing.
