A few weeks ago a friend of mine met me for lunch, something that we have done many times over in the last 10 or so years and afterward called me and said "when we were talking today I felt a connection with you that was quite different, it was almost as though I caught a glimpse of your soul."
I have pondered those words now and think I understand. So often we meet people and have a first impression of them. Yet as we get to know them the way we see them often changes. Perhaps we at first thought they were handsome or beautiful and afterwards wondered why we thought that. Similarly when we meet other people that we would describe as non descript in a crowd become incredibly beautiful as we get to know them. Is it possible that the closer we connect with them, the more likely we are to get a "glimpse into their soul" where nothing but unconditional love exists? Perhaps what my friend saw that day in me after all of these years was an unguarded ego, at it's most vulnerable and loving state? Just imagine if we were to live each day in this state of defenselessness the unconditional love we would be able to share with the world. Is it even possible for the human ego to imagine?

I love your post. I think that so often we meet with people that we know and enjoy their company but it is so rare to have a meeting where the connection is felt a such a deep level.
