Default 90 Day Challenge - Day 12

Only 88 days to go to my lean and healthy body. Today I opted to do the stairs again and I honestly think I will be happy to return to the Tony Horton program my legs are feeling it.

I must say I have been a little pre-occupied today. A woman that I have worked with for several years buried her 12 year old son today. I honestly can't imagine what it must be like to feel that pain, but my heart bleeds for her. It was a tragic car accident and something that is so difficult for any one of us to fathom. So today I pray for her and for all of the mothers and fathers that have had to bury their children.

As I climbed the stairs and was in pain, I endured knowing that it is a pain that I welcome considering some of the alternatives.

Hug your kids today.

Default 90 Day Challenge - Day 13

Lucky 13!! Well it is Sunday night and I have just finished running the stairs, I am hoping Dr. Xu will let me get back to the p90x program so that I can get back on track with those of you that are working out with me virtually. Sunday is a good day for rest and reflection. Today I did both.

When you are working out everyday it is important the you are nurturing your body, nutrition is one means but rest is another. So today I curled up with a book and rested my tired bones and enjoyed a beautiful day. Reflection for me is like writing in my gratitude journal. I look around at my beautiful home and feel overwhelming gratitude. I think about the incredible people in my life that I know would go to the end of the earth for me and I am humbled. I was blessed with two brilliant and beautiful children and as a mother I have been able to experience unconditional love that is unmatched by any other feeling. I am grateful for my success in business and the incredible places that I have travelled and people that I have met and worked with. And finally I am grateful for my body which is the vessel through which I am able to live and experience life.

So my lesson today is to have gratitude for today, for what you have, who you are, and those you love. Gratitude is the highest emotion you can experience and puts you in the highest vibrational energy level, which enables you to attract into your life more that you will be grateful for.

Goodnight and Thank You

Default 90 Day Challenge- Day 14

Wow I can't believe it has already been 14 days. I have taken one more day with the modified program and am back on track tomorrow. Thank Goodness cuz my shins are killing me from running the stairs!!! My shoulder is feeling much better though, thank-you Dr. Xu.

So tomorrow is my birthday and I am thinking that I don't feel my age. I mean I remember when I was in my early twenties and I thought people my age were really old and I know my children think that I am actually pretty old. So how is it that I still feel like I am in my twenties and somehow expect that when I look in the mirror that the image reflected back to me should look the way it did when I was in my twenties.

But why can't it ....really I mean I look at some people and their bodies have not aged at all, infact they look amazing better than I think I did when I was twenty. Is it possible that at some point we decide that someone in their 40's is not supposed to be thin and fit and that once we have children we can never go back to our pre-pregnancy bodies?

I am planning to defy all odds and develop a more fit body than I had when I was twenty. I look at Tony Horton and he looks amazing and he is 47. I know people that have committed to being more fit when they turn 50 than they have been their entire life. So that is what I am planning to do as well.

I was telling my mother in law tonight that I was turning 44 tomorrow and she said, "Well Mary I turned 83 in December" All of the sudden I realized that I am still very young and have at least another 40 years to live and I am going to live them in a lean and healthy body. What about you?

Happy Birthday to me....

Default 90 Day Challenge - Day 15

Only 75 days left to go!!! It was hard to fit in exercise today, but I did yoga. My calves are very grateful too!! If you have never done yoga don't judge it. It may look easy but it is probably one of the most difficult exercises to do and it is really good for you because it builds strength, flexibility and inner calmness.

I will have to work out extra hard tomorrow to work off the cheesecake!!!

Thanks for so many birthday wishes. I had a perfect birthday.

Default 90 Day Challenge - Day 16

Well it's Day 16 and while I am still committed to achieving my goal, I must say I am struggling with the chatter in my mind, especially on busy days like today. In the morning I am grateful that I workout at night and at night I wish I had worked out in the morning. My subconscious is telling me "to go to bed", "to get some rest", "your are tired", "one day won't hurt" and oh yeah "why the heck did I make this commitment publicly" lol!!

But what is important to understand is that this dialogue is normal and infact should be expected. When we are trying to make any changes to our routine or lifestyle, our bodies natural reaction will be to resist. It resists because the unknown is a potential threat and our reptilian brain's primary focus is to keep us safe. So anytime we are trying to introduce a new habit we must persevere through this resistance.

After 30 days, the resistance is significantly reduced and it will seem much easier to complete the task. So the key is to stay focused on the goal to get through the first 30 days.

So today's lesson is around being able to focus. In this world where multi-tasking has become a common phenomena, being able to focus is a rare and valued skill. The gift in following this program is being able to let go of everything else and being able to focus on my body, my breath and my coach. It's a way of giving my mind a break and letting all of the little stuff from the day disipate so that I will have a restful sleep.

Here's to a good night's sleep

Go Mary Go!

I've just caught up on all the threads from your 90 challenge as I've been out of country and off line for a few weeks. Sounds like your doing great!

Interestingly my husband and I just purchased the same program on Tuesday [at Wal-Mart] to try something new that we can do together since our normal routine is Karate. We actually saw the infomercial...lol... while away on holidays and decided it would be fun to tackle together.

I look forward to reading your daily progress and will let you know once we select and commit to our own start date.

Happy Training!

OK Mary. I need to get to it. Thanks for the kick in the pants. I like that you're posting the real experience and that even though it isn't easy it takes some commitment and a strong desire to get healthier.

Default 90 Day Challenge Day 17 or 18?

Hi there, not sure if you noticed but yesterday was groundhog day on my blog anyway. Or so it seems that I have taken day 16 of the 90 day challenge twice. So does that make today Day 17 or Day 18? I wish I knew that it was going to be groundhog dayon the first Day 16, I could have skipped the stairs!! lol. Everyday I feel a little bit stronger and healthier. I can't believe it is already Day 18.

This was an inspirational weekend with the event on Friday night and for me it was a good reminder of the tools that we need to be using when we are trying to make any change. I was reminded that it is all about choices. Once you make the choice then you live into it. Which is what I am doing and what I hope you are doing. Thanks to all of you that were able to join us, we were overwhelmed by our full house!!!

It seems everyday I run into somebody new that is reading this blog. Thank-you because it is a way to make sure that I stay on track. What are you doing to make sure you are. Have you made the choice to be healthy yet?

Default 90 Day Challenge Day 19

Hi folks, today is day 19 and I am trying to adjust to a different time zone. I am in Belgium this week and spent a couple of hours briskly walking through Brussels today. It is beautiful here. But I must say a 31/2 star hotel leaves a lot to be desired including adequate space to workout. So planning is really important and something I should have done before I arrived to ensure I would have enough space to work out. So while I brought my p90x DVD's , I don't have enough space in my hotel room so I will need to get creative to ensure I remain on my program. I am little worried about moving the bed over 6 inches because I am not sure what I will find under it!!:-)

I was upgraded to a business class flight yesterday which was absolutely incredible and I thoroughly enjoyed the luxury. Today I am reminded of the contrast that exists in life.

So today's lesson is about being grateful for everything that we have in our lives, I had forgotten how spacious my world is. So as I fall asleep tonight (which won't be a problem since I am jet lagged) I am going to feel gratitude for my life, for my health, for my wealth for my country for my family, for my friends and for my beautiful home oh yeah and for my clean bathtub too!!!

What are you grateful for in your life? Think about it, focus on it and you will attract more to be grateful for.

Goodnight, I hope the bed bugs don't bite me tonight!!
