I think you nailed it all. I think if i'd reverse your statement - we'll discover the cause of it all. Here's my perspective (disclaimer: male point of view):
1. Disconnection from self - that's where all "badness" begins.
2. Emotional signs of above: depression, homelessness, aggression, apathy
3. Physical signs of above: so much disease, mental health issues.
4. We are trying to compensate lack of connection with self with "action" = getting "busy". Getting busy works for the very short moment (sort of like quick orgasm effect) but than we are faced again with step 2 and step 3 effects for the lack of connection with our self.
Solution:
Get back to Step 1 - re-establish connection with who you really are.
Perhaps we can elaborate on the different ways to accomplish that.
