Why are we so busy?
Interesting how we have made our lives so busy.
We are busy working. We are busy with the kids. We are busy busy busy.
But what are we busy doing? We are busy checking our email 9000 times per day and responding to them when one does finally come in.
We are busy checking our facebook page to see if we have any new friends or any messages.
We are busy checking our phones and texting everyone who also has nothing better to do but be "busy".
We are busy running our kids to events that they for the most part don't want to participate in - but we think they should for "their" own good.
We are busy at work. We are busy at home. We are busy busy busy.
But are we? Or are we really just wasting our life on really unimportant things.
Does our email need to be checked 9000 per day, does facebook, does our text messages need to be replied to - does this really bring us a quality of life. It certainly takes alot of our time. What about work - if we didn't check email or facebook or talk to our co-workers, or talk on the phone or meet to meet - could we really get our work done in half the time?
What if we didn't run our kids to so many events - and we turned off the tv and the video games - would they then maybe play outside with their friends on a beautiful summer night?
And what about us? When was the last time we went for a walk on a beautiful night? Walked along a river or through a beautiful park. Sat and watched the sky and the trees and thought about who we were or who we wanted to be. And envisioned who our children could be if they too were connected to this earth and to nature and to co-creating a world of peace and love.
Have you noticed how many commercials there are on pharmacutical drugs, on things to make us healthier, happier. Showing us what to spend our money on. But has all of this improved our world?
Or has all of these things that take our attention away from ourselves, away from who we are been the cause of so much disease, mental health, unhappiness, lack of passion, depression, homelessness, aggression, apathy, and an overall general disconnect from self.
It seems the more "connected" we get - the more disconnected we feel.
Maybe it's time to change the dream. Change the plan to one that sustains us, heals us, invigorates us, connects us.
What do you think...?
